CPCB EPR Registration: Documents, Portal Steps and Common Rejections
How to complete CPCB EPR registration for plastic, e-waste and battery: documents, portal login, GST and CIN checks, and how to avoid the most common rejection reasons.

CPCB EPR registration is the first legal step for producers, importers and brand owners. Without a valid registration, you cannot file returns or buy EPR certificates against your targets.
Which portal to use
CPCB runs separate EPR portals by waste type. Register on each portal that applies to your products — plastic packaging, e-waste, batteries, tyres, or used oil. One GSTIN can have multiple EPR IDs.
Documents typically required
- Company PAN, GSTIN, CIN (if a company)
- Authorised signatory ID and board resolution / authorisation letter
- Registered office address proof
- Product / packaging category details and estimated tonnage
- IEC for importers
- DSC or Aadhaar-based e-sign as the portal requires
Registration steps
- Create a user on the CPCB EPR portal for that waste stream.
- Fill entity type (producer / importer / brand owner / recycler).
- Upload KYC and product data. Match legal names to GST and MCA records.
- Submit and track application status. Respond to queries within the window given.
- Download the registration certificate and store the EPR ID for filings.
Common rejection reasons
- GST legal name does not match PAN / CIN
- Wrong entity type (brand owner filed as producer)
- Packaging categories left blank or inconsistent with products
- Unsigned authorisation letter
- Duplicate applications under slightly different spellings
